About

Thomas P. George (Raju) was born on November 17, 1948 at Parapuzha House, Maramon, Kerala, India to the Late P.K. George and the Late Thankamma George. Born the fourth of six children, he grew up with his eldest brother (late) George Mathew, his two older sisters, Saramma Chacko and Annamma Samuel and his two younger brothers, George P. Simon and George P. Varghese.

After graduating Maramon High School in 1964, he attended St. Thomas College of Kozhencherry where he completed his accounting degree. He started his career in 1967 when he joined Kothari & Sons Coffee Estate in Mysore. In April 1974, he married his wife of 45 years, Aleyamma George (Ammini). In 1975, he and Ammini emigrated to the U.S. and settled in New Jersey.

From his time in India and through his time in the U.S., Raju was an accomplished athlete. In Kerala, he played volleyball alongside his brother Thampu, as well as tennis and badminton. After arriving in the U.S. he achieved his black belt in karate and continued to be an avid runner for more than 40 years.

Together, Raju and Ammini raised their two daughters, Christina and Regina. Christina married Jaison in Oct 2004 and they were blessed with three children Andrew, Alexa, and Ava. He also enjoyed the company of his precious dog, Indie, with whom he had an undeniable bond. His precious daughter Regina (24) passed away tragically in 2005 and he never recovered from this loss.

Raju lived a vibrant life and his large presence could be felt in any venture he endeavored upon. An avid card player, he enjoyed his weekly card games with his dear friends even until very close to his passing. He was also a founding member of the New Jersey Mar Thoma Church and St. Peter’s Mar Thoma Church in NJ.

Raju achieved great success as an entrepreneur. After joining Preferred Cold Storage as Comptroller, he left his position in 1989 to start his own company with his brother Thampu, Sterling Seafood Corp. From humble beginnings, Raju grew his business to become one of the largest importers of seafood in the United States. He is known as a pioneer in his industry and was well loved and well respected not only for his success, but for his genuinely loving heart. He used his success to support others. There are few people in his circle of family and friends who can say they were not helped by him in some way.
